Fashion Movement - 32nd annual Golden Scissors Fashion Show

It's May, which means its time for the 32nd annual Golden Scissors Fashion Show put on by Mesa College students, showcasing design by Mesa College students.
2 years ago I was taking the Fashion Promotion class, heading up the Line Up committee for the 30th Golden Scissors show. This year was the 2nd year in front of the stage for me, enjoying the show.

This year my good friend Anna was one of the 12 advanced design students who showed a mini collection consisting of 3-5 original pieces. These collections were created during this Spring semester.
You already got to see some of Anna's pieces from the behind the scenes shots from last saturday's photoshoot. Aaaand, not only did Anna win over the audience with her collection, she also won the Golden Scissors award for "Best Collection" and for "Best In Show - Workmanship". Knowing how much hard work she had put into these 5 outfits, I was more than happy and very excited for her! (There was jumping and a lot of screaming going on backstage after the announcement.)

Here are some shots of Anna's designs on the runway along with some other designs.

Like every year the scenes included day wear, evening wear, little girls dresses made by 1st year students and non-fabric designs.

Behind the Scenes of Paolo Gazobiti Lookbook shoot

Yesterday I had the pleasure & priviledge to produce a lookbook photoshoot for my friend Anna's clothing line Paolo Gazobiti. She created 5 looks for the upcoming Golden Scissors Fashion Show. I am so impressed by her designs and workmanship and can not wait to see the final results of this shoot and she her pieces walk down the runway on Friday.
Until the shots are all touched up, here are a couple of sneak peaks I snapped from our Downtown session today with Photographer Jo of Enjoy Collective and Hairstylist & MakeUp Artist Mallory of Everyday Glam by Mallory.

Enjoy!

A Royal Fashion Show

On Saturday February 2nd was the Royal Fashion Show, an event to benefit Sentebale and The Pink Ribbon Crusade, held in San Clemente. A former teacher of mine, milinery designer Diana Cavagnaro, had a booth at the event (some of her hats were also used in the Fashion Show) and asked me to help out. Overall, it was a great event. Designers from all over the world could submit garments that were being judged by former Project Runway contestants. There was a luncheon, silent auction and a variety of designer booths the attendees could shop.
The winning garment - a knitted & crochet dress - was made by Los Angeles based designer Elaine Declercq.

Because there's nothing else to do

For Christmas we went to the Imperial Valley again to spend the holidays with Manuel's family. Christmas Day, after unwrapping our presents, we went to Downtown Calexico to walk around and look at graffiti, because honestly, there is not much else to do over there. And with all the great alley's over there, we obviously had to squeeze in a little photoshoot.
